Now Rupert “Minister of Propaganda” MudMurdoch says he’ll remove stories from Google’s search index as a way to encourage people to pay for content online. Go for it, Rupe-a-Dupe. No one wants your propaganda anyway.
And what he’s saying is weasel-talk in the first place, because all his sites could have opted-out of Google in a flash if they really wanted to – simply by changing their robot.txt file.
The funny thing is that Google actually drives people to the news – “more than a billion consumer visits to newspaper websites each month,” according to Josh Cohen.
So Murdoch wants it both ways. He wants to whine about Google stealing his content, without paying for the traffic he receives from them.
I hope Google bans his sites.
